Accident Involving Two Trucks on I-575

Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services responded to a two-vehicle accident this morning just shortly before 11 AM on the northbound lane of 1-575 just before the Airport Road exit.

Firefighters arrive on scene to find a Chevrolet Silverado truck had struck the rear end of a black Toyota truck causing it to spin around and slide into the median.  The driver of the Toyota, a 69-year-old male, was assisted out of the vehicle, placed on a stretcher and transferred to Northside Cherokee Hospital.  The patient was complaining of back pain.  The male driver of the Chevrolet did not have any injuries.

One of northbound lanes of I-575 was blocked until the vehicles were removed.  The cause of the accident continues to be under investigation.
